"Restless Neva River" Exhibition in Shanghai
An exhibition of modern oil paintings by Russian artists is being showcased at the Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum. The exhibition, named “Restless Neva River” starts on February 24 and will end on March 5, 2008.
The art show includes almost 60 masterpieces. Among them are Liu Haisu’s Art Museum, and the other are works by students at Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Leningrad, Russia.
The organizer is hoping the exhibition will introduce Chinese artists and the public to new trends in Russian art, which has already had a profound influence on some Chinese artists.

Reportedly, the Repin Academy of Fine Arts of Russia is one of the most famous in the world, with a long history and highly praised art schools. Its reputation is for teaching art fundamentals and distinctive teaching methods. A number of world-class artists are graduates from Repin, the only
school in Europe that still preserves the realist and traditional ways of art teaching.
